In 2002, Monster Energy wanted to engage the Warped audience and having already had experience in the extreme sports world, Warped was a natural fit. Initially, the brand asked that artists drink the product onstage; however, given the extreme heat and conditions on the road, water was a more immediate need for the tour. Event producers & brand managers got together and MOSH WATER was born!! Monster used existing bottling facilities and scheduled product drops to provide purified drinking water in branded cans to the tour.
In early years, the cans were branded as collectors items, featuring each year’s tour specific artwork and a note from Kevin Lyman next to a full list of that year’s tour dates. Eventually the program was so successful that the branding shifted to a year agnostic, Monster Energy identical can and the brand now uses MONSTER TOUR WATER for all of their music & sports events. To the consumer, Monster cans are everywhere - to the event, we are able to offset costs & provide a much needed asset to the tour.
13 years later, the Monster family of products has continued to be involved in Warped. Lost Energy, Hansens Natural Sodas & Peace Tea have all had a presence in one way or another and the Monster Energy VIP Zone and Monster Energy Stage continue to be mainstays in the festival!
