In the early 2000’s when Emo music ruled, flip phones & Sidekicks were commonplace and social media wasn’t even a thing yet, a former Warped staffer was a brand marketing manager for a startup that allowed users to connect with one another, communicate and even rank friendship statuses. The brand needed to get in front of the cool kids and the artists that were becoming their leaders. VWT producers knew that this was going to be the wave of the future, and so a little website called MySpace was granted a free table at the Warped Tour, handing out lead cards and gathering email addresses by hand.
Over the years, the space grew to a tented lounge where fans could sit in the shade, check out an acoustic performance or meet & greet their favorite Warped artists like newcomers Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, The All American Rejects and many, many more.
The MySpace & Warped partnership goes down in history as the only paid sponsorship that MySpace ever executed, in reverence for that first opportunity to reach the community that they would ultimately own.
